The world over humanity seems to be headed towards some form of impending doom. You may scoff at the notion but movies like the 2012 doomsday thriller seems to add to the fears and apprehensions many have about our trouble times.

I can sympathize when we continue to hear of waves of natural and man made disasters coming one after another. What does it all mean? Are there answer? If so where can we find them? These are serious questions with deep and profound consequences. Some where in the world huge sections of humankind are facing some form of disaster?

In just the past year there have been major earth quakes, killing hundreds of thousands and causing billions of dollars worth of property damages. Floods the likes no other generation has ever experienced except for the flood of Noah’s day. We have seen damaging tornados strike in places that once seemed a safe haven from these terrifying winds.

Not to mention hurricanes, droughts, drug resistant diseases, endless wars, famine, starvation, social unrest, pollution of the oceans, over fishing bringing many forms of sea life to the brink of extinction. The destruction of animal habitat from human encroachment has put great pressure on the animal kingdom.

Many parts of the world are under going droughts and glaciers are melting at a rate that will bring unimaginable suffering in many parts of the earth. Then there are the deniers of everything to them there are no danger from anything not even climate change.

And as if that was not enough we are now experiencing a more virulent form of social unrest in the form of international terrorism. Governments around the world have been forced to spend huge sums of their national treasury to fight this threat.

People live in fear of not what will happen tomorrow but in dread of what will happen today. We are witnessing governments falter in their ability to assure any measure of security let alone peace. Around the world many societies are arming themselves for imagine or perceived threats.

People are no longer seeing governments as safe havens. They see governments more and more as obtrusive interfering. Many see the eroding of individual rights and freedoms being lost governments are creating more forms of intrusive laws and regulation.

Knowledgeable individuals in Dark academia fashion, the scientific community and the political world feel mankind has reached a tipping point from which there is no return. This bleak out look is no illusion. It’s real, it’s expansive and has dimensions to it that has the potential for the destruction of mankind. If you think this assessment is to alarming. Let me quote a sentiment echoed 1,927 years ago about our times by a very reputable person. Matthew 24:21-22 for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.

That person was none other than Jesus Christ.

What has brought mankind to this frightful reality? Let’s take a look at some of the negative qualities of the human family that are contributing to this bleak picture.

Another well known individual wrote about our times and this is what he had to say. 2Tim 3:1-7

But know this that in the last day’s critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.

This sound like something right out of a modern newspaper.

The above mention corrupting elements have permeated through all human societies in today’s world. The resulting impact of this moral break down can be seen in all forms injustices. If we take an honest look at the four corner stones of human society’s politics, business, education and religion we will see a pattern of moral decay threatening the sanity of this world.

One get’s the feeling some one something is taunting the very servility of mankind with the foolishness of his stupidity.

According to the newspaper Le Figaro, more and more French people “think that the leading figures in society-in political, economic, social, and cultural circles-are not virtuous, and they do not see why they should be so themselves.”

Politics: It has been the Bain though out the history of man. Man has rule man to his ruination with little or no compassion for the dignity of the individual his or her rights. The rich and powerful have no fear. The poor and lowly cries for justice only to have it fall on deaf ears. Powerful men use politics for selfish and greedy ends fattening their larder on the backs of the ignorant and poor. To be a politician one has to be willing to COMPROMISE HIS OR HER MORAL BEARINGS willing to be corrupted if not in practice then in principal.

Most politicians are willing to throw moral principals away. They will compromise their on dignity through one of the greatest of all immoral tools “THE LIE”. They will promise you hope to get your vote just to turn around and treat you like a dope. And the sad thing they know you will keep coming back. They also know if you throw them out of office you will put them right back in office because most humans have lost their own moral compass most people rather be lied to than do the hard work in holding people accountable for their bad actions.

Business: “the French newspaper Le Monde calls it “a wide spread crisis of confidence.” The global economic plight is largely the result of “a wide spread crisis of confidence.” A trusted American businessman has swindled his clients out of billions! Thousands discover that their pension funds have vanished in what has been termed “the fraud of the century.”

Reported in the newspaper Le Figaro, published in Paris, France was this article. In West Africa, a 12-year-old boy lies in a hospital bed-the victim of a fake antimalarial drug that his mother bought at a legitimate drugstore. “For 15 years we have been finding false medicines on the market,” says a hospital physician.

Honesty in business drives a healthy society. In the past decades we have seen a steady erosion of individual and social values. This has resulted in an undermining of business practices that were once stellar. There was a time when the statement “Made in America”, “American Made”, and “Union Made” meant pride of quality, the American Way.

The idea of entering a business establishment in today’s world without a lawyer in toe is not to far fetch. Businesses once had honorable policies and practices treated their customers with dignity. Their motto was once the customer is always right has went right out the window. Many businesses have no qualms about cheating their customer or not honoring the customer fair complaints.

And believe it or not there are individuals that do not want any sort of government over sight over any type of business practices no matter how damaging those practices would be to the environment, individual’s health, and welfare and over all mental well being.

Education: The soundness of a society can be seen in its educated citizenry. Paralleling the declining value in business, social and moral ethics in the minds of many is a devaluing of the educational system. For the past thirty years in the United States we have seen a major assault on education. Public schools around the country have been denied the financial and more importantly the political will to support strengthening the educational system especially the public school system.

Many schools across the country have gone from institution for higher learning to the maintenance and warehousing of the problems facing many families in the American society. It’s no wonder Americans are the laughing stock of the world. The pattern of business behavior can be linked directly not only an uneducated people but a morally devalued people at that. There have been many surveys that have pointed to a gross lack of ethics and morals in our schools. Many of our children let alone many adults do not have an adequate education.

All you have to do is look at one of Jay Leno’s skits when asking so called educated individuals on the streets basic question about anything related to the world we live in. The ignorance is tragic and sad when right before your eye’s we are witnessing the denigration of an empire.

Now let’s take a candid look at what may be the root of all of this “Moral Sickness.”

Religion: The roll religion has played in the moral decay of many societies around the world is nothing short blasphemy. Her hands are not clean by any stretch of the imagination. Are you distressed about crimes committed in the name of religion? Do the warfare, terrorism, and corruption perpetrated by those who claim to serve God offend your sense of justice? Why does religion seem to be at the root of so many problems? The fault lies, not with all religion, but with false religion.

A widely respected religious figure, Jesus Christ indicated that false religion produces bad works, just as a “rotten tree produces worthless fruit” Matthew 7:15-17 what fruit does false religion yield? And just as important how has its fruits contributed to the moral bankruptcy we see around the world. I cannot speak from a view point of all religions so I will look at one that I’m some what familiar with Christianity.

When I was a child I would get dragged off to whatever Christian faith that suited my mother notion for that moment. It didn’t take long for me to see through the hypocrisy that adults were living in their so called belief system. I’m reminded of what one character had to say in the movie Sling Blade he said to his father the things you told me were not the things I read for myself in the bible the things I was told were lies.

Many of us grew up knowing that Preachers, Deacons, Bishops, Cardinals, Rabbis, and a whole slew of others were making a mockery of Christianity. These so-called ecclesiastical leaders’ actions jaded the mind of many individuals setting in motion the belief that if God did not care so why should I. And if you happen to be a person who had a heart for spirituality where could you find it. You knew you couldn’t swallow the hypocrisy of the clergy class and reconcile yourself to what the bible actually say’s.

Therefore generations of individuals stop believing in an all loving God and started too turned to alternative forms of worship. The Bible it’s self plainly states that there will come men in future times that would turn the word of God into something that would please their on selfish desires.

The Apostle Paul said this at ACT 20:29-30 I know that after my going away oppressive wolves will enter in among YOU and will not treat the flock with tenderness, 30 and from among YOU yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.

When you consider the quality of today’s s-called Christianity against the back drop of Biblical history especially first century Christianity one walks away with the sobering thought that Christianity today would be considered a rotten fruit in the first century.

The Apostle Paul went onto point out just how bad it would become. At 2Corinthians 4:3-4 this is what he had to say.

3 If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.

According to scripture the god of this system of things is none other than Satan the Devil. John 3:8 “say’s” He who carries on sin originates with the Devil, because the Devil has been sinning from [the] beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was made manifest, namely, to break up the works of the Devil.
